Just because the Bible is so entertaining, and pointing out what the Bible actually says to Christians can be enlightening, I’ve quoted some passages from the Bible below. Ask and ye shall receive.
But if the thing is true, that evidence of virginity was not found in the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done an outrageous thing in Israel by whoring in her father’s house. So you shall purge the evil from your midst.
Deuteronomy 22:20-1
If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 20:10
Moreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life, and I defiled them through their very gifts in their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it that they might know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 20:25-26
And following three which really should be read together. If you are going to believe the Bible, which bits?
And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Genesis 32:30
And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend.
Exodus 33:11
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 1:18
So as long as you’re clear, no one has seen God, apart from the people who have. Got that?
~I LOVE GOD TO ALL U PEOPLE U DON’T ~
by all means, continue to love god, but please, answer me this, have you read the bible? all of it? is every sentence in it inspired by the divine? what about where there are contradictions, as shown above?
I think the question is do you know how to read the bible?
The Bible is not a work of science it is a work of theology. Neither is it a work of history, though history is an compent of a theological tract, in the same way society, geo-politics, culture, literature, drama and aesthetics are components of what makes up a theological work.
I am dumbfounded by detractors who seem ignorant to what theology is; as to how it is that it is constructed. Do you seriously believe that the book of Genesis was intended to be a scientific account of our origins as a species or that ‘truth’ is merely scientific? (science understood in either is phenomenal or instrumental sense) Do you understand what a theological truth is? How ‘truth’ is communicated theologically?
You seem to read a religous tract the same way you would an account of the moon landing or a break in at the bakery.
well said jen! :0
I’m not looking for theological truth. Just THE truth. And that book has given me no answers.
Reading is reading–the sames excuses. Whenever apologist don’t realize they have no feet, they quickly say that you’re doing it wrong. Obviously, you weren’t holding your mouth right.
